Leadership Development

Siblings Forever seeks to walk along-side children and young adults who are currently and formerly in foster care, preparing them to be leaders. We do this in several ways:

Counselor In Training Program

Children at our events are either in foster, adoptive or kinship care and live separated from at least one sibling. While children attending our events are between the ages of 8 and 18, those who are older can serve as a Counselor in Training or as a Counselor. This allows children to attend camp even when an older sibling has become an adult, and allows these young adults to receive leadership training. If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete a volunteer application.

Junior Board

In an effort to have former children-in-care serve on our Board of Directors, we have started a Junior Board Program. Former campers join our Board in a non-voting position to allow them to learn how to serve on a Board. This is an important effort to ensure that we hear the voice of those impacted by the issue of sibling separation and include these young people in decisions regarding our programs.
